The Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor.
The Chancellor is elected for life as the constitutional ceremonial head of the Institute by the Senate Council of the Institute. In modern times, the Chancellor’s principal public role has been to create commercialization opportunities for peace innovations at RISIS.
The Vice-Chancellor is appointed for a period of five years and is the Institute’s Chief Administrative Officer.
Pro-Vice-Chancellors
Three Pro-Vice-Chancellors are appointed to support the Vice-Chancellor. Their responsibilities are determined by the Vice-Chancellor and the Senate Council – the Institute’s main executive and policy-making body. The office of Pro-Vice-Chancellor is limited to six years and their important task would be to engage in high-level media campaigns and public discourses.
The Registrar
The Registrar, reporting to the Vice-Chancellor, is the deputy chief administrative officer of the Institute and the head of the Unified Administrative Services, which oversees the operational efficiency of the faculties for the day-to-day management of the Institute.
Proctors
A Proctor is elected as Head or Dean of the Faculty. They are supported by a Pro-Proctor. Governance

The Senate Council
The Senate Council emulates The Senatus Academicus (Senate) in an academic setting of traditional institutions . It is the Institute’s supreme body for all learning programs. The core function of the Senate Council is to regulate and superintend the teaching and discipline of the Institute and to promote research work and initiatives. The Senate Council elects the Chancellor and the high officers of the Institute. It is the principal executive and policy-making body of the Institute. It has overall responsibility for the organizational development, administration and management of the Institute.
The Vice-Chancellor is chair of the Senate Council. Senate Council’s role include: Formally approving the award of Institute’s qualifications, including honorary awards.
Approving the conferment of Emeritus status on retiring professors of the Institute.
1. Setting the Faculty’s regulatory framework.
2. Maintaining the quality assurance and standards of the Institute’s awards.
3. Setting the high level policy and strategy on learning, teaching and curriculum development.
4. Communicating policies approved by Senate Council committees.
The General Board of the Faculties.
The principal duty of the General Board is to advise the Institute on educational policy and the establishment of newer faculties to meet the strategic goals of the Institute. It is responsible for maintaining a high standard of teaching and research in each of the faculty. Each faculty has a range of policies, regulations and guidelines to govern its practice. The governance of the Faculty is overseen by this General Board.
National Chancelors
What is a National Chancellor in a RISIS?
A National Chancellor is a Country Manager of the Research Institute of Standards in Islam (RISIS), usually either as the chief executive officer or ceremonial head of the Institute campus within a respective country system. There would be one national chancellor for each country. Thus there would be 193 national chancellors for RISIS around the world. What do National Chancellors do?
National Chancellors are the Country Managers of RISIS in each of the 193 countries around the world. National Chancellors lead and mentor staff and students and manage the institutions’ growth and academic excellence. What power does a National Chancellor have?
The National Chancellor determines who will be in charge of RISIS in their respective countries, since he or she alone has the right to form the Administrative Cabinet of RISIS in their respective countries.
Annual Communications on Programs.
The National Chancellor of RISIS would be appointed for a two year period and performing individuals would have their services extended for another two years. An annual Communications on Programs would have to be submitted by the 25th December of each calender year.
