Welcome to the Faculty of Research for Standards in Islam, a pioneering institution dedicated to rigorous scholarly inquiry and intellectual exploration in the realm of Islamic standards and ethics. Our courses are meticulously designed to cultivate critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and ethical decision-making rooted in Islamic principles. From foundational studies in Islamic jurisprudence and ethics to advanced research methodologies and contemporary issues, our curriculum equips students with the skills and knowledge to navigate complex challenges with integrity and insight. Through interdisciplinary engagement and dialogue, students will delve into the rich tradition of Islamic scholarship while fostering a deep appreciation for diversity and ethical conduct. Taught courses and online training are offered at Certificate, Higher Certificate, Diploma and Higher Diploma of Competency in Muslim Friendly Protocol and Ethical Consumerism.
Started formulating Halal based standard and Shariah guided management systems in 1995 when he was chosen to represent Persatuan Pengguna Islam Malaysia in formulating the Universal Integrated System ISI 2020. ISI2020 is the first management system based on Shariah and Halal tenets in the world and was presented in an OIC Conference in Tripoli Lebanon in 1997 by the then Minister of International Trade and Industry, Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz.
Since then, Zulkefli was requested to continue his contribution in formulating other Halal standards developed by Standards Malaysia namely MS1500:2019, MS2634:2019 (Islamic Consumer Goods-Halal Cosmetics standards) MS2200:2013-part 2 (Islamic Consumer Goods- Usage of animal bone, skin and hair) 2424:2012 (Halal Pharmaceuticals; revised in 2018), MS2393:2013 Islamic and Halal Principles-Definition on terminology) Halal Medical Device Standard, MS2636:2019.
In 2008 he was appointed Chairman for Technical Committee on Management System in the Islamic Perspective by Standards Malaysia succeeding Director General of Institute of Islamic Understanding, Dato’ Hj Nik Mustapha Nik Hassan. This TC developed strategic management standards in the Islamic perspective to compliment other Halal products standards developed by Standards Malaysia.
The standards developed by this TC during his tenure were, MS1900:2005 (Quality Management Systems-Requirements from Islamic Perspectives, revised 2014), MS2400:2010 Part 1, 2 and 3, Halal Logistics-revised 2018), MS2300:2013 (Value-based Management Systems), MS2610:2015 (Muslim Friendly Hospitality Services) and MS2691 (Halal Profession).
He is currently a panel member of Halal Malaysia Certification Advisory Council chaired by JAKIM.
Zulkefli received the National Standards Award 2019 by Standards Malaysia due to his diligence and relentless commitment in the development of all the nation’s Halal and Shariah based standards.
